The Big Combo 1955 | Crime Noir | Cornel Wilde - Lee Van Cleef

This was a early yet highly successful and influential  film for the crime Noir Genre The Big Combo is about a police lieutenant ( Cornel Wilde ) who gets pressured and threatened from a gang headed by a vicious crime boss Mr. Brown ( Richard Conte ) and his ruthless henchman Fante ( Lee Van Cleef ). The Lieutenant is ordered off the case but instead he is helped by the gangster's girl , jealous of his affairs with other women ( Jean Wallace ).  She provides him with information to help him close the net on her husband.

This film was an independently made film that was not controlled by Hollywood censorship and contained a few controversial scenes due to implied sexual conduct , affairs' and killing.  It was directed by Joseph H. Lewis and photographed by Legendary Noir cinematographer John Alton. Excellent Film! and beautifully cleaned and enhanced for viewing.
