Messiah of evil - A truly underrated horror film

Don't confuse Messiah of Evil for one of the many lackluster generic horror movies of the 1970s. Its plot seems like it would be but it was a breakout film for many involved in it despite its low budget approach. The co-writers and producers would go on to make movies like American Graffiti, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Howard the Duck. Other people associated with the film would do Mulholland drive, There will be blood and more. It has a trippy horror essence to it as well as cinematography that works to put you on edge of your seat.

Plot -  a young woman is looking for her father. Her search leads her to a town filled with vampire-like people led by a mysterious figure. Messiah of Evil has a weird horror terror feel that gets under your skin and is a good 1970's unknown gem. It never received much notoriety amongst the public due to it being a learning movie for those who made it and the fact it was a low budget direct to select drive-ins film. However, the final product helped launch the careers of many.
