This Zane Grey novel was rejected multiple times for being to violent by publishers until finally published by Argosy Magazine in 1914. Its the original version of the "Lone Star Ranger". It follows the story of Buck Duane who was haunted by the reputation of his father a famous Texas lawman. This "legacy" leads to Buck killing a man and fleeing from the law. As Buck wonders as an outlaw he slowly loses some of his principles and begins to blur the lines of morality.
This awesome lesser known story by legendary author Zane Grey was made into film adaptations 4 times in the last 100 years. Its an intriguing tale that highlights the western frontier and its outlaw nature coming to conflict with morality and civility of a more developed society that was progressing at that time.
