The Confederate Veteran as originally published in Nashville Tennessee in 1893.
This Civil War publication was a fundraising newsletter that was intended to raise money to build a memorial statue for Jefferson Davis, the confederate president. Its name changed over the years to Sons of Confederate Veterans and United Daughters of Confederate Veterans, however, its appeal never waivered in the "New South" It became one of the South's most-read magazines, gaining over 20,000 subscribers by the year 1900. Its still to this day to be considered one of the most historical southern viewpoints and remembrance publication of the "Great American War"
