Beadles Boys Library - Beadles- In 1860, the publishers Erastus and Irwin Beadle released a new series of cheap paperbacks, Beadle's Dime Novels. These became so popular especially as literacy rates soared after the civil war. Immigrants loved them as the vocabulary often was a bit simpler than traditional novels and the stories were entertaining. These novels reflect the period of time they were in including steam-powered machines, Indians, trains, the wild west navy stories and more.
